Asparagus Racemosus/Sathavari

Tamil Name: தண்நீர்விட்டான்கிழங்கு Asparagus racemosus is a plant used in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda). The root is used to make medicine. Don’t confuse asparagus racemosus with Asparagus officinalis, which is the type of asparagus that is commonly eaten as a vegetable. People use asparagus racemosus for upset stomach (dyspepsia), constipation, stomach spasms, and stomach ulcers. It is also used for fluid retention, pain, anxiety, cancer, diarrhea, bronchitis, tuberculosis, dementia, and diabetes. Some people use it to ease alcohol withdrawal. Women use asparagus racemosus for premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and uterine bleeding; and to start breast milk production. Asparagus racemosus is also used to increase sexual desire (as an aphrodisiac).

Tamil Name: ஆடுதீண்டாபாழை Aristolochia is a plant. The parts that grow above the ground and the root are used to make medicine. Alangium Salvifolium

Tamil Name: அலன்ஜீயம் Sage-leaved alangium is used in the treatment of Rabies. The leaves, roots, seeds and the bark of the plant is used in the preparation of decoction and making pills. Sage Leaved Alangium is a tall thorny tree native to India. It grows to a height of about 3 to 10 meters. The bark is ash colour, rough and faintly fissured. The leaves are elliptic oblong, elliptic lanceolate or oblong lanceolate. The flowers are greenish white, fascilcled, axillary or on old wood. The berries are ovoid, ellipsoid or nearly globose.glabrous, smooth and violet to purple. The flowering season is February to June.

Bacopa Monnieri

Tamil Name: நீர்ப்ரமி Brahmi is a plant that has been used in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda). Be careful not to confuse brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) with gotu kola and other natural medicines that are also sometimes called brahmi. Brahmi is used for Alzheimer's disease, improving memory, anxiety, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), allergic conditions, irritable bowel syndrome, and as a general tonic to fight stress. People also take brahmi to treat backache, hoarseness, mental illness, epilepsy, joint pain, and sexual performance problems in both men and women. It is also sometimes used as a “water pill.”
